Job Description

A Carter Lumber Safety Coordinator is responsible for creating, facilitating, and monitoring the component plant’s safety programs and initiatives. This person will work diligently to ensure employees are following health and safety regulations in an effort to eliminate workplace illness/injury and better promote the wellbeing for our team. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Regularly inspects and ensures that all building operations and work processes are being performed while using safe job practices
  • Ensures all employees are properly using protective equipment at all times
  • Leads all on-site accident investigations and provides corrective action as necessary
  • Maintains accurate OSHA 300 log and other required reports in accordance with guidelines
  • Trains new and existing employees on how to properly handle and adhere to safety requirements while operating tools, equipment, machinery, etc.
  • Analyzes and identifies trends within incident reports, and use findings to make appropriate changes that will promote a safer work environment
  • Maintains appropriate communication with management team
  • Performs other duties as required
Requirements
  • Bilingual strongly preferred (English/Spanish)
  • Previous experience in safety operations
  • Building materials or construction industry knowledge is a plus
  • Ability to professionally communicate with all organizational levels
  • Computer savvy and knowledgeable about software including Microsoft applications
