Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse on the Adult Medical/Surgical Psychiatric unit provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with co-morbid medical/surgical and psychiatric/behavioral health conditions. This role requires adaptability in a dynamic environment, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and commitment to quality patient care. The nurse will work rotating shifts and have opportunities for dual-certification in medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing after gaining required experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to adult patients with combined medical/surgical and psychiatric/behavioral health needs.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning tailored to a diverse patient population.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Adapt to a fast-paced, changing clinical environment while maintaining high standards of care.
• Participate in unit growth, development initiatives, and quality improvement activities.
• Fulfill charge nurse duties and respond to on-call and callback requirements as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years recent medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Experience in psychiatric and behavioral health nursing.
• Telemetry nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system within the last year.
• Acute care nursing experience.
• Flexibility and enthusiasm for working with a diverse patient population.

Special Considerations:

• Willingness to work rotating day, evening, and night shifts including weekends and holidays.
• On-call and callback duties as required by unit needs.
• Charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
• Disclosure of requested time off (RTO) during the assignment is required.

Scheduling:

• Rotating shifts covering day, evening, and night hours.
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage required.
• Shift assignments based on unit requirements and staffing needs.
