Pattern Maker (Metal) – Journeyman Level

Syracuse, NY | 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) | Full-Time

We are seeking a highly skilled Pattern Maker (Metal) to support the creation of complex castings, molds, and tooling systems used in advanced industrial applications.

This is not an entry-level role—this is for a true craftsman who can translate complex specifications into precision-built patterns with tight tolerances and exceptional quality .

What You'll Do:

You will lead the end-to-end creation and refinement of complex metal patterns and molds , including:

• Performing intricate hand finishing and build-up work on complex castings
• Fabricating patterns, core boxes, and permanent molds from various materials
• Executing advanced layout work to establish critical dimensional relationships
• Setting up and operating:
  • Conventional machine tools
  • CNC equipment (including programming)
• Utilizing SolidWorks (and similar tools) for machining and design execution
• Performing precision bench work (fitting, scraping, polishing, finishing)
• Verifying work against tight tolerances , accounting for shrinkage, draft, and finish
• Identifying discrepancies in prints/specs and recommending improvements
• Supporting continuous improvement (TPM) and maintaining high-quality standards

What You Bring:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 4+ years of Journeyman-level Pattern Maker experience or Journeyman license
• Strong expertise in metal pattern making, layout, and machining
• Ability to work without sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred:

• Experience with SolidWorks and/or Mastercam
• CNC programming experience (2+ years preferred)
• Deep understanding of pattern making techniques, tolerances, and materials

Location & Relocation:

• Based in Syracuse, NY (onsite role)
