Job Description

LOCATION: NRA Headquarters (Onsite, full-time)

SUMMARY: Reporting to and working in close coordination with the Competitive Shooting Director and Competitive Shooting Division staff, you will assist in the daily management and coordination of a variety of Collegiate Shooting Sports and competitive shooting sports programs as directed. In this role frequent travel (to Camp Atterbury Indiana and other locations) will be required. Travel obligations are approximately 25% during the winter months and in some cases over 50% travel will be required during the spring and summer or fall months and will require weekend commitments. A background in Collegiate shooting sports and Olympic style shooting sports is required. A background in modern shooting sport disciplines is a plus.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage Collegiate Shooting Sports program activities and assist with NRA Competitive Shooting Sports operational needs.
2. Register NRA Competitive Shooting Tournaments, assist in the collection of fees, assist in posting scores, manage competitor rankings, assist with other administrative duties and perform other tasks as assigned.
3. Conduct and assist in conducting a variety of competitive shooting tournaments and/or ensuring the success of these tournaments to include public speaking and event leadership. This may include a variety of international, national, regional NRA and non NRA championships.
4. Oversee, within divisional guidelines, outside contract firms/vendors to provide services for competitive shooting events, to include but not limited to lodging, food and beverage, venues etc. Regularly monitors level of vendor service and ensures corrective action as needed. Successfully negotiates contract terms favorable to NRA in coordination with upper management and legal counsel, and in compliance with established internal procedures.
5. Coordinate and manage with Staff the completion and maintenance of complete and accurate National Records and ensure the completion of the National Records procedures are done so in an accurate and timely manner.
6. Manage and coordinate with other NRA Staff the distribution of awards, and maintenance of the database of awards, pins, certifications, medals, trophies etc.
7. Provide exceptional customer service to NRA Members and non NRA members related to NRA Competitive Shooting and/or a variety of NRA events.
8. Assist in managing and/or creating budget/s for all departmental activities that require budgetary support.
9. Manage, compile, review, edit and draft program promotional materials, as directed, in an accurate and timely manner. Coordination of promotional materials development will be made with the Executive Office of General Operations via Media Request.
10. Assist staff to work, within departmental guidelines and budgetary constraints, to establish new courses of fire and programs that will enhance and increase participation. This will include the design and edit of courses of fire for new and existing programs, as directed.
11. Assist, as directed, with the development of new web-based materials to assist NRA members and clubs, and the public with operational materials for conducting Competitive Shooting events.
12. Coordinate, in a timely manner, with other NRA Divisions to ensure that scheduled Competitive Shooting events are listed in appropriate NRA publications.
13. Manage and assist in producing requests for NRA Competitive Shooting press releases and social media promotions and/or related content.
14. Manage and provide accurate and timely support to the department to include monthly, quarterly and annual reports, match reports and correspondence as requested.

SCOPE: High visibility with all NRA Divisions, national and international shooting organizations, NRA Membership, State Associations and local clubs. Local and national, and international travel is required to include some weekend work. Position requires the lifting and carrying of items not to exceed 50 lbs. Position functions in a fast-paced work environment with minimal direct supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Four-year college degree desired. Background in the shooting sports, competitive shooting events and event planning a plus. Social media promotional experience and/or relevant military experience is a plus. Salary is budgeted as $60,000 to $70,000/year

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Proven ability to interface effectively with all levels of individuals. Proven ability to monitor established budget. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel required, coupled with willingness to learn other software packages essential. Creative thinker and self-starter with excellent organizational skills essential. Proven ability to work independently or as a member of a team required while prioritizing tasks in a time sensitive dead-line driven environment essential.
