The High School Affiliated to the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNCAHS) is the only affiliated senior high school of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, the first Sino-foreign cooperative university in China. It is fully funded and constructed by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government. The school has successively been awarded the titles of Zhejiang Provincial First-Class Key High School, one of the first batch of Zhejiang Provincial First-Class Characteristic Demonstrative High Schools and Zhejiang Provincial Modern School. In 2024, it was listed as a High-Quality Demonstrative High School in Ningbo for its outstanding educational and teaching achievements.
Faculty Team
Committed to building an outstanding education brand, the school has made great efforts to introduce and cultivate high-quality teachers. Its frontline teaching is led by an outstanding team composed of senior professional teachers, national outstanding educators, young doctors and postdoctors. The team also includes gold medal coaches of the National Olympic Competitions, provincial model workers, outstanding teachers, excellent headteachers, promising young teachers, as well as distinguished foreign teachers with experience as IELTS examiners.
In recent years, a group of outstanding postgraduates graduating from top universities such as Peking University and the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have joined the school. At present, 53.6% of the Chinese teachers in the school hold doctoral or master's degrees, ranking leading in the local area. Among them, 84.8% of the teachers in the International Department have master's degrees or above, and 27.3% have doctoral degrees.
Educational Features
The school's distinctive features lie in its new institutional system, internationalization and personalization. By establishing a diversified further education system, the school provides a personalized cultivation platform for every student. Each class is equipped with two classrooms: a standard classroom with intelligent dual screens and a personalized classroom with AI equipment, facilitating personalized tutoring and independent learning. Every student is assigned a personalized tutor who offers targeted support such as academic guidance and psychological counseling, escorting the whole process of students' growth. The school conducts all-round cooperation with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and supports students' all-round development through a series of activities including the UNNC Summer School, professors' lectures and further education guidance.
Academic Achievements
In recent years, a large number of students have been admitted to well-known universities at home and abroad with excellent academic performance, including Zhejiang University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xiamen University, the University of Hong Kong, Imperial College London and University College London. Students have won numerous awards in various academic competitions, such as the Gold Medal in the British Physics Olympiad, the Gold Medal in the USA Biology Olympiad, the First Prize in the National Composition Competition, the First Prize in the National English Proficiency Competition, and the Special Prize in the National Youth Leadership Competition.
In the Oxford AQA unified examinations, students of our school have won the global highest scores in AS Physics and Further Mathematics for consecutive years. In the 2025 Oxford AQA IG examinations, three students from our school achieved the global highest score in Mathematics (only seven students worldwide), and one student won the global highest score in AS Chemistry (only two students worldwide). In the 2025 Edexcel IG Economics examination, one student from our school obtained the global highest score.
Characteristic Courses
The International Department of the school offers integrated Chinese and Western characteristic courses, including A-level integrated courses and China-Japan integrated courses. It has established direct cooperation with world-renowned universities and university associations in the UK, the USA, Australia and other countries, and launched the "Overseas Top University Direct Access Program" to help students enter top universities in Europe, America, Japan, Hong Kong of China and other regions.
